Leadership Development

Businesses that incorporate leadership training into their business development plan are in effect making a strategic investment in the human capital within the organization.

The people who attend to the daily operation of the business is the greatest asset of that business.  Staffing and training personnel to operate the business is one of its greatest expenses.  Employee selection should be handled with the utmost care in order to minimize the expense and secure a long-term future for the business.  The development of the leaders from the pool of experienced personnel should be a management priority.

A Leadership development program would include training in the ability to build interpersonal relationships, social  interactions, and team building, and the personal attributes desired in a leader, and the desired ways of behaving,  thinking, and feeling.

It would also focus on  providing the opportunities for development, stimulating the ability to develop (including motivation, skills and knowledge for change), and providing a supportive context for change to occur.

The goal of the leadership development program would be to act on the belief that the most important resource of an organization is the people that comprise the organization  by implementing a strategy to detect, monitor, and encourage the development of individuals (including followers) to become leaders.

Leadership development can encompass any number of developmental processes including:

  • talent identification and management
  • individual development planning
  • management development
  • succession planning
  • mentoring
  • coaching
